The Prayer of a Friend

prayerBefore walking into our first gathering for Restore Community Church I was blessed by this prayer from a good friend.

My prayer:

Jesus..thank you so humbly for dying for our sins and thank you for your grace so we may grow and become like You and Your Word.

Gracious Savior, we ask for  your blessings for the first gathering for Restore Community Church.

May it honor you, have Your blessing, and progress in Your time, and may Restore wrestle with the uneasiness and restlessness that comes with doing Your work.

Thanks you Jesus for all your blessings.  Ron and I are so humbly thankful for all the blessings You have blessed us with and we humbly bow to You and listen to You for our next steps.

Your brother in Christ:

Ken

Restore’s First Gathering!

prayerThis Saturday night is the first gathering for Restore Community Church!

We have invited 29 families to become Restore Community Church by growing in relationship and pursuing God’s mission in NOVA together. Over 20 adults and children are coming to Restore’s first gathering.

In the next couple of weeks, we are hosting additional gatherings for those who are unable to make this first gathering. The purpose of these gatherings is to establish new relationships, share stories of all God is already doing, envision the future of God’s church in NOVA, and commit to joining together in God’s mission.

Here is how we need you to pray! Please ask God to…

  • begin establishing the relationships of His church
  • build excitement for His mission in NOVA
  • unite us around His mission

It is possible, even if you live in another state, that you need become part of Restore, but you didn’t know about these first gatherings. Well now you do! To consider joining Restore on location or if you know someone living in NOVA that may need to join Restore, please email me at ron@restorechurchonline.com.

Restore is Hiring

restoresmRestore Community Church is in the process of hiring 4 ministry positions. If you are interested in receiving more information on any of these positions, contact Ron (ron@restorechurchonline.com). Below is an overview of our staffing values and each position we are hiring.

Staffing Values
We believe that Jesus is the head of the church and leads the church through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. As such, our pastoral staff are equal partners in equipping God’s people for works of service (Ephesians 4:11,12). There is to be no authority in the church other than Jesus. The staff are to yield their personal agendas to each other and the leadership of the Holy Spirit as they come to consensus in all matters of ministry.

Restore is starting as a multi-staff church – comprised of both full and part-time leaders.  We are hiring the following pastoral positions:

Pastor of Assimilation and Discipleship – full time
We believe ministry is relationships and that new relationships provide new opportunities to share Jesus’ message. Our ability to establish new relationships is directly proportional to our ability to impact the community with God’s love and truth. The leader of assimilation and discipleship’s main objective is to connect people relationally in the church. This involves developing the spiritual formation process and equipping leaders who help move people through the process based on their relationships, passions, and gifts. Pastor of Community Impact (Enrich NOVA) – ½ time
We believe it’s time for the church to exit the building to unleash God’s generosity in the community and live Jesus’ mission. The leader of community impact’s main objective is to multiply and empower people who are serving others in the context of the community and church. This involves promoting spiritual growth through mentoring relationships and movement into others areas of church life. To review this job description click here.

Pastor of Family Ministries – ½ time
We believe that parents are the primary spiritual influence in a child’s life – for good or bad. The primary focus of our ministry to children is to train parents to be spiritual mentors to their children. The leader of family ministry’s main objective is the equip parents to rear their children to love God and others while living Jesus’ mission while equipping of those who lead the ministry to children.

Pastor of Worship – ¼ time
We believe worshipping God is a lifestyle that is to be practiced 7 days a week both privately and publicly in the church and in the community. The leader of worship ministry’s main objective is to equip believers to worship God seven days a week. This involves equipping leaders to lead corporate worship and to equip the church body to live a lifestyle of worship.

Financial Partners

generosityGod has impressed on me to share this with you because of your role as a financial partner in establishing Enrich NOVA and Restore Community Church.

Following our community meeting, where we unveiled Enrich NOVA’s new community impact initiative Generosity Can – www.generositycan.com – one of our Loudoun County Supervisors who attended the meeting wrote…

“Ron, we are blessed to have you here.”

This is a simple statement with profound meaning in consideration of 2 Corinthians 9:11.

“You (name) will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”

Here is the significance of our County Supervisors note in light of God’s word:

Thank you for all you are doing to partner with us to reach the Sterling Community and NOVA with the kindness of God that leads to repentance.

Through us, your financial generosity, is already resulting in thanksgiving to God, as we pass on your generosity accompanied with the gospel of Christ.

Stefani and I greatly appreciate your involvement in God’s mission and our lives.

If you would like to become a financial partner, please email ron@restorechurchonline.com.

Reaching the “Nones”

solitudeThe “Nones” have been identified by the American Religious Identification Survey (ARIS) as the increasing number of Americans who claim no religion. Professor Keysar reports, the “‘Nones’ are the only group to have grown in every state of the Union” while religious groups are declining.

How do we reach “Nones” with the truth of Jesus Christ? Considering the “Nones” reject religion, perhaps the American church should move away from it’s religious framework and begin embracing the relationships of Jesus. He met people’s needs in tangible ways to present the truth of His Kingdom – a Kingdom that is governed by a different set of values than that of the world. Perhaps the church should value less of the world and more of God’s Kingdom.

Often I ask new followers of Jesus, what did it take for you to “get it” – to understand and experience Jesus’ love. There is only one common thread to each response. “I got to know (they name a Christian friend or group of friends), and they loved me regardless of who I was or what I did. Through this relationship I began to understand and experience God’s love. Slowly, I got to know Jesus and returned to God.”

Reaching the “Nones” is going to take relationship. But first we must shatter Christian religiosity and place greater value on God’s love, generosity, and kindness. This will enable us to build relationships with those who have thrown off religion.

It is the kindness of God that leads people toward repentance (Romans 2:4).
